Landscaping Ideas for 2016 on a Budget

Maintaining a beautiful yard year round does not have to break the bank.  If your budget is modest, there are many options to help you improve your property and do so frugally.

Patios and Walkways

This is a great alternative to an expensive and high maintenance deck.  Once your patio is installed the only care it needs is to be hosed off with water now and then or sweeping it to ensure the patio remains clean.  How low is THAT maintenance cost?

Consider going in a direction other than grass

Hardscaping will make the outside of your home beautiful for years to come.  Shrubs and other low maintenance plants can cover the ground in areas that are free of grass.  Potted plants which thrive in the intense summers and mild winters of the Houston area can also provide greenery without having to maintain a grass-covered lawn.

Don’t Forget Mulch

Mulch prevents erosion, weeds, and moisture loss.  The mulch should be spread around tree bases, shrubs and flower beds.  Stone and plastic liners can be placed around trees and flower beds with mulch inside of them.  Also consider stone, which is more costly but very low maintenance.

Low maintenance and low budget options are endless in the beautification of your Houston area home.  For more information, contact Houston’s Laird Landscaping at 281-578-2795 or visit his website at www.lairdlandscaping.com.  We are proud to begin our 34th year serving this great metropolitan area.
