What are Pavers?

I suppose it could be said that “pavers” are people who pave the way for others.  In landscaping parlance pavers are paving stones be they tile, brick, or concrete that are commonly used as exterior flooring.  They are made by pouring a mixture of concrete into a mold of some shape and allowing it to set.

Typically, pavers come in one of four different materials –

1.  Clay
2.  Stone
3.  Brick
4.  Concrete

In landscaping, pavers can be used in many different ways, however, the most common use for them is in driveways, pathways and walkways.  The beauty and curb-appeal that pavers could add to your property is immeasurable.  Let Laird Landscape of Katy and the Houston area help you bring it all together.  Call them today at (281) 578-2795.

Replacing Concrete Expansion Joints.

Trim-a-Slab is a material placed in the cracks between concrete slabs to protect the slabs from cracking when they contract and expand as the temperature changes.  And you know what that means in the Houston area. To use an example, this material acts as a shock absorber, absorbing the stress from the slab's movement.

The first thing and potentially the most difficult is the preparation of the joints.  Unlike the gooey stuff that constitutes other expansion joint products, Trim-A-Slab requires only a 1.5 inch minimum depth; the joint needs no further work.  We will just clear at least 1.5 inches, and we are done

It’s all about doing it right and guaranteed the first time.  That is where Laird Landscaping located in Katy and serving all of the greater Houston area comes in.  When it is time to replace concrete expansion joints on your property call the experts at Laird Landscaping…voted Katy’s best at (281) 578-2795.

Can You Grow Grass in the Middle of Summer?

Sometimes you don’t have a choice.  If you just moved into a new Houston area home and you don’t want to wait for cooler temperatures is it OK to plant grass now?  Planting grass by seed or sod in mid-summer requires some extra care to ensure that the seedlings have enough moisture for healthy growth.

Although you may have chosen a particular warm-season grass to plant, full establishment may take between two and six months to achieve.  However, proper soil care helps the germination process.  Of course, an alternative to the seeding process is using sod.  Most warm-season grasses are available in sod form.

Whatever you choose to do, know that Laird Landscaping has the answers to planting seed or applying sod on your Katy or Houston area property.  At Laird, they specialize in many of the landscaping needs that you may have 365 days a year.  Call Laird Landscaping at (281) 278-2795 and explore your grass planting options.
