What is Flagstone.

It is a beautiful choice as an accent for your Houston area landscaping, that’s for sure!  Flagstone is defined as a generic flat stone, that is cut into regular rectangles or squares and shapes and is usually used for paving slabs or walkways, patios, flooring, fences and roofing.  You have seen it…now you want it on your property.

Perhaps you prefer dry-laid flagstone where the pieces are placed on a bed of sand and gravel.  We recommend that a patio or walkway base be at least 3” deep, then filled with a layer of compacted gravel covered with coarse sand.  Mortared flagstone consists of flagstone pieces that have been permanently set with mortar to a prepared subbase.

Whatever you decide, please let us help.  Here at Laird Landscaping we have been beautifying Katy and Houston area homes with landscape ideas including flagstone for decades.  The public named us Katy’s best landscaper.  Let’s get together and turn your home into a castle by calling us at Laird Landscaping.  That phone number is (281) 278-2795.

More Water…More Green.

Does your Houston area home have a sprinkler system?  Are you thinking of adding onto it?  Doing so requires basic familiarity with cutting and gluing PVC pipe, as well as being physically able to do a lot of the trenching.  The original control box usually does not need to be replaced to add to the system, however additional valves, piping and sprinkler heads need to be installed.

In order to do so, you must locate the existing sprinkler valves.  These may be above ground or below in a plastic valve box.  If they are underground, remove the box and excavate the soil on one side of the valves to make space for adding the new valves.  Don’t forget to turn off the main water supply and cut the PVC pipe that supplies the water.

It is quite an undertaking and one that is one of the many services that we provide at Laird Landscaping.  The Laird family has been installing, replacing, and adding to sprinkler systems in the Katy and Houston area for decades.  This is a great time to give us a call to assess your sprinkler system.  That phone number is (281) 578-2795.
