Start With a Plan, Man.

After the storm of 2017 you may need a fresh landscaping plan for your Houston and Katy area home this year.  So, just what is a landscape plan?  Think of it as a floor plan, but for the outdoors.  A well-done landscape design creates a visual representation of a site using scaled dimensions.

It starts by creating the outline.  A professional landscape company takes a broad outlook of the projected area.  They begin by drawing boundaries of the area. It might be the edge of a garden, the end of the yard, a fence, or any other area beyond which the landscape plan is no longer pertinent.

Actually, we skipped a step.  The first thing to do is contact Laird Landscaping.  They are one of the Houston area’s leading landscape design companies.  You will quickly discover why Laird Landscaping was voted #1 in Katy.  It begins with a dream, then a phone call, and then a design.  Call the team at Laird today (281) 578-2795.

Time to Prune and Plant.

Ahhh, springtime in the Houston area.  This is the time for moderate temperatures and activities around your home.  Have you paid any particular attention to the trees on your property lately?  This would be an excellent time to do so!  Whether it is pruning, cutting, or planting it is all part of enjoying your surroundings this year and well-beyond.

Trees and shrubs are usually best attended to now, before the hot temperatures and high humidity take over in Katy and the surrounding area.  If you do it yourself, you may cause damage to these magnificent comfort-givers that provide shade and beauty to those in your family and visitors to your home.

Let me suggest Laird Landscaping.  They were voted Katy’s number one landscaper for a variety of reasons.  Management of the trees and shrubs on your Houston area property is just one of them.  Pay attention to those integral parts of your environment by calling the tree-trimming experts at Laird Landscaping (281) 578-2795.

Maintain your Edge.

That’s good advice for many of us.  As it pertains to landscaping and lawn maintenance it may refer to edging your garden bed.  This is the time of year in the Houston area where we have a distinct edge over our northern neighbors.  We have a moderate spring where we can prepare our gardens for the upcoming heat and humidity.

Edging your garden bed is an important task, and now is the time to address it.  Some people like artificial or stone edging in their garden beds while other area home owners do not.  By using an edging tool each spring, you keep the garden and lawn neatly in their place.  This should be done to create a bed edge to work your trimming tool which keeps the lines from migrating back and forth.

When it comes to bigger landscaping jobs around your Katy and Houston area home why not turn to the best?  Yes, we were voted Katy’s #1 landscaper and we do not take that honor lightly.  We want you to realize your landscaping dreams in 2018.  Let’s talk about it.  Give us a call this spring at (281) 578-2795.

The Difference between Hardscape and Landscape.

First of all, what do we mean by hardscape?  It is the non-living material in your landscape design such as rocks, bricks and pavers.  It also may be a pergola.  So, what the heck is that?  A pergola is an archway that consists of a framework covered with trained climbing or trailing plants.

These are the accent pieces that make your home the envy of all who are fortunate enough to visit it.  The word landscape with which we are more familiar refers to living things in your yard such as plants, trees, shrubs, and flowers.  Landscape and hardscape…they require two things…planning and execution.

Now that we have survived a tumultuous 2017 it is time to get serious about your home environment in 2018.  It all begins with a call to Laird Landscaping.  They have fought with you side-by-side through the challenges of Harvey and are standing by to transform your property into the centerpiece of your family’s activities.  Call them today at (281) 578-2795.
